iPhone 13 – All that's known

Hi folks, although we're still about a month away from the official announcement of the iPhone 13
series, and for those not in the know it's already August. There are more than enough leaks for us to
have a full idea of what the future applephones will be like.

It may only be a rumour, of course, but I've heard that Apple is preparing to release the BEST iPhone
ever. That's the kind of information. What I bought it for, I sold it for.

And year after year, Apple tries very hard to punish insiders for leaks. But the first rule of the leak
club is that you can't stop leaks. The second rule is never measure the depth of a puddle with both
feet.

So today we're going to take a detailed look at what's known about future iPhones.

iPhone 13 release date

Let's start with the essentials. We have an iPhone 13 release date. Mr Daniel Ives, who has been
credited with some accurate predictions earlier, has said that the new smartphones are scheduled to
be unveiled on September 14, and will go on sale 10 days later.

That basically agrees with history. That's usually what Apple does. Holds the event in September and
10 days later you can already see the iPhone on shop shelves. And another 20 days later, the first
loan payment.

Except that only last year, because of the pandemic, the presentation was moved to October. But
this year, despite some manufacturing difficulties due to a global chip shortage, there are no hints of
a delay at the moment. So wait for the fresh iPhones next month. At least we'll have something new
to choose from in September.

iPhone 13 price

The price for the entire iPhone 13 range promises to remain plus or minus the same as the 12th
generation. Although it has recently been revealed that Apple wants to partially move iPhone
production from China to India due to the ongoing trade war between the US and China, and this
could indeed affect the price. There is talk of a $1 billion investment, which would allow production
of up to 20% of Apple's required smartphone volume.

But at the moment there's nothing to indicate that we should expect a major change in the price of
the upcoming iPhones. Which means we'll see the following price tag.

iPhone 13 Mini – 70,000 rubles.
iPhone 13 – 80,000 rub.
iPhone 13 Pro – 100,000 rub.
iPhone 13 Pro Max – 110,000 rub.
Name of iPhone 13
By the way, we're so confident that the next iPhone will be called the iPhone 13, while there have
been rumours that Apple will call it iPhone 12S because of the fact that the new generation will only
have minor upgrades.

Also, the number 13 is considered superstitious in many cultures. But it seems to me that the
number 19 will now give the damn dozen a light. (covid-19).

Be that as it may, there are currently no leaks about Apple's fear of the number 13. In fact, an
Economic Daily News report on 5 July, citing industry sources, suggests that Apple will name the next
generation as the iPhone 13.

iPhone 13 camera

And now for the best part. About the camera.

In terms of visual changes, the camera module won't change drastically except for a slight increase in
size.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 13's ultra-wide-angle camera will be upgraded to f/1.8
compared to f/2.4 on the iPhone 12. He also said that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max's ultra-wide-
angle cameras will have autofocus.

It's great to hear that the ultra-wide-angle sensor is finally getting some improvement.

Late last year it was reported in the Korean media that Apple would be putting periscopic cameras
from Samsung with 10x optical zoom capability in its smartphones. However, we won't be able to see
the results of this partnership until the iPhone 14.

Also this year, it has been reported that Apple will update the selfie camera and FaceID sensors to
reduce the fringes above the display.

Apple may also offer an astrophotography feature in case you want to look out for a spot in space
before Ilon Musk takes over everything there. This feature will give you the ability to take long
exposure photos and get beautiful pictures of the night sky with stars and the moon.

Insiders have also mentioned the addition of video recording in portrait mode. If I'm not mistaken,
this feature appeared on the Galaxy Note 10 two years ago. Still, let's give praise to Apple. I mean it.
There aren't many technologies that Apple has adapted faster than two years.

Reportedly, after recording video in portrait mode, users will be able to change the depth of field of
the video to their liking.

As for the LiDAR sensor, things aren't so clear-cut. According to some reports, it will only be on the
Pro models. And according to other leaks, all four iPhone 13 models will have the LiDAR depth
scanner on board. Let's see what the end result will be.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max's main camera is rumoured to have a wider F1.5 aperture compared to the
F1.6 camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max . The larger aperture will help capture more light and
significantly improve low-light shots, as well as achieve more natural bokeh.

Don't expect a jump in the number of megapixels – the iPhone 13 family is likely to feature 12MP
sensors, just like the iPhone 12-series.

iPhone 13 storage
As for iPhone 13 storage, there's a chance that Apple will significantly increase storage capacity on
some models up to 1TB.
This is confirmed by insider Daniel Ives. Only he specifies that the 1TB variants will get the iPhone 13
Pro and Max models, but it's not certain the rest will.

iPhone 13 design
As for the design of the iPhone 13. Probably the main thing we're expecting is a smaller notch on the
display. By about 25% the eyebrow should become narrower and thinner.

At the end of March, we even saw a leak from MacRumors with a picture of three iPhone 13 front
panels where the notch is indeed noticeably smaller, at least in width.

A little later on Weibo published renders of the iPhone 13 mini based on factory specs. And here we
have a different arrangement of the lenses in the camera module. They will now be positioned
diagonally.

Well, overall it will be a similar flat design as last year's models.

On January 15, Bloomberg reported that the iPhone 13 will finally get Touch ID embedded in the
display, technically speaking a fingerprint scanner. But personally, I don't have much faith in it. How
it's too innovative. But we'll see. If not this year, then next year on the iPhone 14 such a feature
should definitely come.

The much respected insider Ice Universe tweeted a moulage of the entire iPhone 13 lineup on July 9.
Here we can see the camera module upgrade again.

iPhone 13 display

Another innovation ahead of the market awaits the iPhone in the display department. We have a
leak from the South Korean media that the iPhone 13 will get the Always On Display feature. This is
when the locked screen will always show some information like the time, battery charge (maybe
even with a percentage) and notifications.

Industry analysts also speculate that the entire lineup of new iPhones will be equipped with OLED
displays instead of LCD. These displays are expected to have a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Although I
think the internet would go crazy even if they only increased the refresh rate to 61Hz.

I wonder how they are going to present a 120Hz display at the presentation? Probably something
like, "For the first time ever, a one-of-a-kind screen that no one, anywhere, has ever seen before."

Guess who's going to produce the display for the iPhone? That's right, Samsung. According to UBI
Research, Samsung's Display division launched 120Hz LTPO panels for the new iPhones in late March.

These high refresh rate displays will be put exclusively on the Pro models of the range. As for the
iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13, LG will supply Apple with less premium 60Hz panels.

As far as dimensions are concerned, we expect the iPhone 13 series won't change much. Unless only
by reducing the side bezels, the displays might add a little bit. But roughly the following will be the
case.

iPhone 13 mini – 5.4″, 1080 x 2340 pixels, 476 PPI, 60Hz, IPS
iPhone 13 – 6.1″, 1170 x 2532 pixels, 460 PPI, 60Hz, IPS
iPhone 13 Pro – 6.1″, 1170 x 2532 pixels, 460 PPI, 120 Hz, OLED
iPhone 13 Pro Max – 6.7″, 1284 x 2778 pixels, 458 PPI, 120 Hz, OLED
iPhone 13 battery
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple has managed to free up more space inside the
iPhone 13 for the battery. Also, keep in mind that the upcoming A15 Bionic should be more power
efficient than the A14, and this should also play positively on battery life.

If insiders are to be believed, here are the battery sizes to look forward to:

iPhone 13 mini – 2406mAh
iPhone 13 – 3095 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro – 3095 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro Max – 4352mAh
For comparison, here are the dimensions of last year's range:

iPhone 12 mini – 2227 mAh
iPhone 12 – 2815 mAh
iPhone 12 Pro – 2815 mAh
iPhone 12 Pro Max – 3687 mAh
Finally, at the end of July, MyDrivers resource reported that the iPhone 13 series will get up to25W
fast charging support. Just crazy. Xiaomi have cackled in horror. I'm not sure really if 25W charging in
2021 is in principle worthy of such a title as fast. And of course, don't expect the charger to come

with it. Any charger at all. There will be a bunch of unnecessary instructions and paperwork, but not
the charger. The environment, you know, it's the charging that doesn't like.

The IPhone 13 according to EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbah could get reverse wireless
charging and a larger wireless coil, potentially supporting more wireless charging power.

Is the iPhone 13 worth the wait?
Now let me try to answer the question, is it worth waiting for the iPhone 13 or can we safely get the
iPhone 12?
